She obviously can’t do that on her own and is looking for volunteers and people to donate presents, funds, time. Calvia Vet is organising a collection of blankets, cushions and towels to be passed on to refuges around the island as the weather worsens. Drop off what you want there and they will get it distributed. You can call them on Tel. 971695108 for their opening hours.
Specsavers in Santa Ponsa is participating in the food bank collection, so if you are popping in for an eye test or to get your glasses repaired, or you are just passing, take them in something non perishable, they are particularly also looking for things for babies and children, nappies, milk and baby food which is heartbreaking really. So please make sure you keep them in mind if you are in the Santa Ponsa area.

Pueblo Español Christmas Market 5th to 9th December The Pueblo Espanol is a bit like Spanish Disneyland because it has miniature versions of some of the more famous Spanish buildings! It can be a devil to park around there but it is worth it. For the Christmas market, the entire area is kitted out with beautiful decorations and lights. The market has a €5 entry fee for those 12 years and older, including a free mulled wine. It runs from the 5th to the 9th of December and is open every day from 12h to 23h, and Sunday from 12h to 20h. Father Christmas will also make daily appearances from 12h to 14h, 16h30 to 18h30 and 20h30 to 22h.
There are five areas: Plaça Mayor, Plaça d’España, La Rambla, Via Roma, and Plaça Porta Pintada with markets in central Palma In total, there are nearly 220 stands selling all kinds of things from nativity scene decorations to hats made from yak wool. The markets are open from 10h to 21h during the season. Markets will be open until 7th January.
On December 5th there will be a Winter baking workshop designed to make baking fun and simple. Price includes drinks and snacks, plus tasting the finished goodies, an apron and recipe pack of 10 delicious treats for the fiestas. Wednesday 11th December from 17.30 to 20.00 Christmas singsong at the Dockbar at STP Boatyard in Palma, make sure you are wearing your Christmas jumper. 14th and 15th December starting at 10h30. The village of Alaró Christmas market on the square is my favourite, although it is often REALLY cold when you go up there so be warned. Apparently, there will be more than 50 stalls set up selling crafts, clothes, and there will be live music and entertainment.
Countryside Christmas Market Costitx is a newcomer to the Christmas Market scene, this holiday fair hosted by Spoon Full O’ Moon will be an environmentally conscious afternoon featuring plant-based treats, clothing, jewellery, art, essential oils, cards and organic wine all set up along a charming “Fairy tale Trail”. Live music, decorations, a photo booth, bonfires and karaoke round out the event! Entry is €10 for adults, €5 for kids. The event will be held on 15th December between 13h and 18h. The Puerto Portals Christmas fair has become popular in recent years. It’s got to be said the offerings tend to be a bit more “upmarket” than some of the other fairs, but it’s a nice place to wander around and enjoy a mulled wine. The market runs from 20th December to 6th January.
Port Adriano will be more of a fun place to go to for children as there will be food trucks and an ice skating rink set up as well as giant slides and attractions for the kids. Market days are from 22nd December to 7th January.
There is also a really cute idea “Breakfast with Santa” at the London Arms in Magaluf every Thursday to Sunday from now until Christmas! 10am to 11.30am you can do arts and crafts, write a letter to Santa and deliver it to him personally, have your photo taken with him and also the kids get a present to go away with. It costs 9.95.

Then after all the Christmas excesses and New Year’s Eve shenanigans, there will be a special event on January 2nd at Bellver Castle organised by a yoga teacher called Marisol. It is a donation only event starting at 11.00 where the participants will do 108 sun salutations, it is a way to start the new year with fresh intentions.
